On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, and on behalf of Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, I led a team to commission the Abbam community mining scheme in the Kade Constituency.

In my speech, I reiterated the commitment of the government to establish more job opportunities through the community mining scheme while curbing illegal mining.

Two (2) gold processing equipment worth US$ 200,000.00 was also donated by the government to support the scheme to achieve full gold recovery and curb the use of mercury and other environmentally-unfriendly processing methods.

I urged the management of the scheme to strictly adhere to responsible mining practices and reclaim mined areas as operations advance.

The scheme shall, directly and indirectly, engage over 2,000 workers. A very great step in boosting the local economy of Kade through shared wealth.

The MP for Kade Constituency, Hon. Kwadwo Agyare and Municipal Chief Executive of Kwaebibrem Municipal Assembly, Hon. Antwi Boasiako touched on the importance of the scheme, pledged their full support, and also applauded the government for such an initiative.

They further pledged to ensure that, responsible mining is adhered to at all times.

Nananom also lauded the initiative and asked the ministry to support the program with equipment.

I was accompanied on the trip by Mr. Martin Ayisi, CEO of Minerals Commission, Mr. Benjamin Aryee, Advisor to the Ministry, Mr. Nelson Ahedor, Small-Scale Mining & Industrial Minerals Director, and other officials.
