Yes it’s Christmas and many people are in festive moods and many of us automatically assume it’s a time of merry making and partying for everyone but is it really for everyone?

Does Christmas have the same meaning for everyone? Or it means different things to different people? And does it even matter to care how it means to different people? Should people have a reason to feel anything but happy around Christmas?

A few days ago, I made a statement that Christmas means different things to different people and some people especially Christians were somewhat offended. Why really would anyone not understand that and respect that statement either?

Fact is:
1. Not everyone is a Christian and Christmas affect many people whether they celebrate or not.

2. Even for Christians Christmas doesn’t represent the same thing.

3. Christmas is not a happy season for everyone. It is a time of sadness, pressure, depression, isolation and stress for many.

4. It has religious meaning for Christians and does not mean much for others.

5. For others it symbolizes the end of the year.

6. For some, a time of giving and reflection and forgiveness.

I wonder why people can’t recognize, appreciate and respect the diversity we have in society.

On this occasion I entreat you to celebrate the season in a way that reflecst your values. In my mind, nothing wrong if you feel differently than the majority. Don’t follow the crowd.

Peace and joy to all my Facebook friends.

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Peace be onto you all.

Feel free to share what Christmas mean to you.
